Single-mode stability of DFB lasers with longitudinal Bragg detuning

Threshold and above-threshold behavior of laser cavities with various pitch-modulated feedback gratings is analyzed. The optimum design for high power operation with large side mode suppression is shown to deviate considerably from the distributed /spl lambda//4-shift design.<
