Analysis of the depolarized current in polyvinylidene flouride

There is a significant difference between the depolarized current spectrum of the alpha -form of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) from room temperature to 160 degrees C and that of the gamma -form. For the former, a depolarized current peak (called peak P/sub 3/) appears around 50 degrees C. but it is not so distinct for the latter. Peak P/sub 3/ around 50 degrees C is related to the dipolar depolarized current of alpha -form PVDF at various polarizing field, temperature, and time shows that peak P/sub 3/ behaves like a space charge peak. Hence, it is concluded that peak P/sub 3/ is actually the superposition of two peaks: one is a dipole peak at 45 degrees C and is attributed to molecular motion in crystalline regions, the other is a space charge peak at 60 degrees C and is attributed to the interface depolarization between crystalline and amorphous regions.<
