Limited angle tomography using wavelets

The authors propose a wavelet-based algorithm for the problem of limited angle tomography given some approximate a priori knowledge about the edges parallel to the missing view angles. They use this approximate partial edge knowledge to restore certain affected high-resolution wavelet domain images. The low-resolution image is restored using interpolation of some of the low-wavenumber Fourier components of the image. The wavelet transform is used to combine the low-resolution and high-resolution images into a reconstructed image. Numerical examples illustrate the procedure and its robustness to erroneous edge information.<
