Scheduling of a benchmark flexible manufacturing cell using the Lagrangian relaxation technique

With some modifications, the Lagrangian relaxation technique is applied to a benchmark flexible manufacturing cell (FMC) producing turbocharger parts. Extensive testing shows that reasonable results are obtained with relatively small computation times. Analysis indicates that this technique is most effective in reducing the root-mean-square tardiness of multioperational jobs.<
