Evaluation of a model of visual-vestibular interaction

Horizontal eye movements were recorded in normal subjects during tests of visual-vestibular interaction. The vestibular stimulation consisted of a step of angular velocity about the vertical axis. The optokinetic simulation consisted of full-field visual rotations at 0 degrees and +or-40 degrees /s with respect to the head. The responses were simulated using a simple model of visual-vestibular interaction. The model predictions suggest that a limit on the retinal error velocity can describe some of the experimental observations.<
