A systematic approach to perform inference and defuzzification in fuzzy logic controllers

This paper deals with the inference mechanism in fuzzy systems, especially in the field of fuzzy control. Starting from Zadeh's compositional rule of inference, the principles are discussed with the aim to find an appropriate inference strategy being a generalization of the binary case. An advanced inference and defuzzification strategy is derived which is based on minimizing an appropriate error function.<
