On measuring the horizontal electric field just above the Earth's surface

An analysis is given for the open-circuit voltage in a linear wire antenna located above a flat ground, with homogeneous electrical properties, for a distant vertically polarized source. The receiving wire antenna is allowed to be tilted at a fixed angle relative to the ground surface. In one case, the ends of the antenna are terminated in ground stakes while, in another ease, the antenna is unterminated. It is shown that the staked antenna is less influenced by the asymmetry.<
