An optimized network service for teleaction services in Switzerland

Swiss Telecom PTT has launched an optimized communication service for applications with small data volumes. The service, which is overlaid on their existing packet-switched data network, is based entirely on international ISO and ITU-TS standards. This article describes the communication solution, the protocols, and some service aspects with regard to cost savings and international standards, and discusses present applications and possible future developments.<
