Role based activity modeling in the context of computer supported cooperative work

The approach to computer supported conferencing described is based upon the concept of a structured document which can be manipulated within a common virtual workspace, and supervision of manual and systems interactions by journaling which allows role analysis and definitions. Journaling is a method by which system actions and operations generated by event streams based on mouse clicks, keyboard strokes, etc. can be recorded and replayed. System operations can be examined at a number of different levels via a journal file, but in this context the most useful appears to be at the user interface and communication messaging level. The journaling concept can be applied in different areas. It can be used to support role based activity modeling, to demonstrate or animate specifications of a system, to explain learning strategies, to reason about utilization, and to train users.<
