Control techniques for optical image stabilizing system

A novel optical image stabilizer was implemented on a consumer video camera. Novel feedback servo techniques were developed in order to control the nonlinear, unstable, variable fluid prism. As a result better frequency response was achieved. The system has the following features: (1) maintenance of picture resolution and (2) compensation for the fluctuation in optically zoomed pictures. When the new servo techniques are used, the prism's control is stable regardless of the prism's position and the temperature. These new techniques made it possible to develop an optical image stabilizing system whose stabilization rate is good.<
