Nitrogen laser charging process investigation

The effective application of two-electrode spark gaps requires some consideration in the charging circuit, which necessitates choosing a proper power supply. A simple method for optimizing the pulse charging parameters, which in turn provides valuable information concerning the design and construction of such laser systems, is introduced. A careful parametric study governing the operation of the spark gap and hence the laser is reported and shown to provide insights into the application of this type of switch. The good agreement between these results and experiment shows the validity of the method and the fact that it can be used successfully for other laser systems.<
