Performance of Markovian access protocols in satellite channels

A theory previously developed by the authors (1987) is extended to channels with long propagation delays. Specifically, the performance characteristics of Markovian access control protocols in satellite channels are evaluated. It is shown that the channel propagation delay can lead to improvements in the system's behavior, i.e. to a destruction of the saturation effects and to stabilization of the network in a steady state with relatively high performance characteristics.<
