The ESPRIT II 'PROMISE' project

The work being undertaken in ESPRIT II project number P2397, PROMISE is described. A brief overview of the structure of the project is given. This is followed by a more detailed discussion of the goals of the project. The author focuses on the work being done within the project in constructing a multi-media presentation system for use in dynamic, real-time, process control applications. He takes a computer science perspective and concentrates on the technical problems encountered in attempting to construct such a system. Conclusions are drawn on the work undertaken so far and the future work foreseen.<
