Individual and organizational changes necessary for the application of creativity techniques in the development of information systems

Creativity theory has been applied to the domain of information systems development only in recent years. A wide variety of creativity techniques are available to assist in problem definition, idea generation, selection of alternatives, and implementation, all of which require large economic investments and environmental changes. These barriers include the lack of certain individual skills and abilities, and inappropriate nurturing and support by the organization. A strategy for newly adopting creativity techniques would take into account the scope and depth of their desired use and deliberate sequencing of intervention. Further research is required to assess the efficacy of such efforts.<
