The windowing polarization technique and its possibilities in the study of conduction mechanisms in polymers

It can be observed in electrets of PET-A, using the windowing polarization technique and TSC (thermally stimulated current) spectroscopy, that the polar peak ( alpha ) and the peak of charge ( rho ) show a maximum polarization at a certain temperature of polarization T/sub p/=T/sub po/. The peak alpha , for T/sub p/>T/sub po/, shows maxima at a temperature (T/sub m/) that is constant versus T/sub p/ as long as P=f(1/T/sub p/) is a linear function, and it is possible to calculate its effective energy of activation above the T/sub po/. The peak rho , for T/sub p/>T/sub po/, results in a plot of P=f(1/T/sub p/) that is not linear, whereas T/sub m/=f(T/sub p/) is a linear and increasing function. The results obtained from PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) are compared and discussed.<
