Investigation of Characteristics of High-Power Wide-Band Plasma-Filled Traveling-Wave Tubes (TWT)

Development of plasma TWT which is the broadband amplifier of microwave oscillations with high power of output signal in a continuous operation mode is carried out in VEI. The purpose of this development is creation of technological installation of the microwave oscillation radiation with frequency sweeping and creation of the output high power amplifier cascade of ground station for space communication. Our experience in development of plasma TWT has shown that presence of plasma in the transit channel expands a working frequency band, increases efficiency and output power of the tube. We received the maximum working frequency band around the given frequency (in our case 2.45 GHz - the allowed frequency for technological applications) at the maximum coupling impedance. Plasma influence on the electromagnetic properties of CCC SWS was provided by means of special glow discharge tube input in the transit channel of the slow wave structure model
