Interoperability and optical network performance

Interoperability is a key enabler to provision emerging end-to-end bandwidth services and next generation optical network deployment. Optical network interoperability has been demonstrated recently at various industry sponsored events (OIF Global interoperability demonstrations at Supercomm 2004 and 2005) showing the maturity of the technology and industry status. Interoperable optical networks will enable service providers to enhance provisioning and new service creation and, thus, streamline OPEX and CAPEX and optimize their existing network to support additional revenue streams.
