A control theory view on systems discrete by nature

Details of an analytical approach, based on an analogy with Petri nets, to the modeling and control of systems which are discrete by nature-the so called discrete events dynamical systems (DEDSs)-are presented. The DEDSs change their states owing to asynchronous discrete events, and many of their elementary subactivities, e.g., elementary operation of flexible manufacturing systems, may be concurrent.<
