A study on PML-FDTD and boundary consistency conditions of total-scattered fields in cylindrical coordinates

The finite-difference time-domain formula of Maxwell's equation in perfectly matched layer (PML-FDTD) is deduced in cylindrical coordinates. It is convenience to implement than in complex stretched coordinates that presented in Zhang Hongxin et al. (2002, 2003). Then, in order to study the scattering characteristics of cylindrical objects by using FDTD method, the boundary consistency conditions of total-scattered fields are proposed in cylindrical coordinates. Further, the planar wave excitation sources are set on the boundaries by using one dimension FDTD and linear interpolation method on attempt to simulate the propagation of plane (TEM) wave in free space. At last, the scattering patterns of a perfectly electric conductive cylinder are calculated in far zone, and the algorithm is validated by comparing with the results that of using the moment method (MoM).
