Computation of electromagnetic transients in underground cables and overhead lines using the superposition principle and exponential Fourier transform

Computation of electromagnetic wave propagation in multiconductor systems using the superposition principle and exponential Fourier transform is presented. This is a new approach which takes into account all frequency-dependent effects of the transmission system. The impulse response is calculated in the phase domain using the exponential Fourier transform. Selection of integration parameters for inverse numerical transform is considered. A transient in an underground cable system is computed using the proposed method, and the results obtained are compared with field test results.<
