A novel dynamic controller for stability enhancement using capacitive series compensator

This paper presents a novel nonlinear dynamic error driven, error scaled controller for a static series capacitor compensator (SSCC) for enhancing voltage, transient stability and power-transfer capacity. The proposed self adjusting tri-loop tie line controller is based on the speed, terminal voltage and tie line power deviation signals. The proposed study system is a single machine infinite bus system with a frequency-dependent transmission line model and a local nonlinear-type dynamic load (induction motors). The digital simulation is carried out in time domain as well as in frequency domain by using the special simulation program PSCAD/EMTDC for electromagnetic transient analysis.
