New devices for VCR control using teletext services

The transmission of video programming signal (VPS) and program delivery control (PDC) signals is discussed in the context of video cassette recorder (VCR) control. VCR control is a new development in the use of broadcast teletext data services. It is now possible to perform selection of the program to be recorded and real-time switching using information contained in broadcast transmissions. The design of a dual-standard monolithic decoder is outlined. Two new devices based on the design are described, one for simple manually programmed VCR, the other for full teletext programming.<
