Shaping terahertz pulses using structured metal films

Using a single subwavelength aperture surrounded by annular grooves, we demonstrate the ability to alter the pulse shape of an incident single cycle THz pulse. Arbitrarily complex time-domain waveforms may be generated, in principle.
