Analyzing biological signals with CMAC, a neural network

The neural network CMAC (Cerebellar Mode Arithmetic Computer) is discussed. CMAC is used as the main control device in an effort to develop a brain-computer link. If a person intends to move his/her eyes up, down, left, or right, it is hypothesized that a distinct electroencephalogram pattern exists for each intended direction. The CMAC could then be trained to recognize these four directional patterns and move a computer cursor correspondingly. Therefore, a severely handicapped person could will the cursor movement on the screen and scroll through menu driven software to control his/her environment.<
