A capacitance sensor for methanol ratio measurement of blended gasoline

Methanol fueled vehicles are getting much attention for better emission quality and more power. The flexible fuel vehicle (FFV) which runs on any mixture ratios of gasoline and methanol is a promising introduction to the market because methanol refueling stations are not widely available at the moment. An alcohol sensor in the fuel line measures the mixture ratio of the fuel to determine the amount of fuel injection into the engine for the best combustion. The authors show some approaches to the concerns underlying the sensor design which overcame the myth of the capacitance sensor drawbacks.<
