A concept to minimize the user interaction of mobile phones

In this paper, a practical concept to minimize the user interaction of mobile phones is presented. The concept takes into account that the SAR (specific absorption rate) generated in the user's head is mainly due to currents on the PCB of the mobile phone. In order to influence the nearfield generated by these currents in the region of the head, additional metallic strips are attached to the front face of the mobile. The contact points of these strips to the PCB are designed in a way to excite a current distribution on the strips that lowers the nearfield in the region of the head of the user. The investigations are either based on numerical simulations using the FDTD (finite difference time domain) field solver EMPIRE/spl trade/ by IMST and experimental investigations using the measurement system DASY (dosimetric assessment system) by Schmid & Partner Engineering.
