Static exciter for wound rotor induction machine

Possible techniques of self-exciting a wound rotor induction machine are discussed. A practical controller based on the slip energy recovery principle in the wound rotor machine is investigated and compared with conventional methods of self-exciting and squirrel cage machine. The generated voltage due to self-excitation is initiated and sustained with a constant value for the power capacitors connected across the stator windings. Possible control strategies for regulating the generated voltage and frequency are also discussed and are backed by experimental work.<
