Device characteristics of the plasma charge transfer shift display

Design considerations and device characteristics of an ac plasma shift display which advances dots one position per discharge are presented. Voltage margins of 15 V and shift speeds of 2000 characters/s have been achieved using pure neon gas without Penning gas dopants.
