Model predictive hydrodynamic regulation of microflows

An application of model predictive hydrodynamic regulation of a flow stream in a microfluidic geometry is provided in this paper. Using bit-accurate emulations we mimic the optimization operations, carried out in an embedded 32-bit microcontroller. Additionally, finite element method simulations are utilized to solve the coupled partial differential equation problem that describes the dynamics of the examined system. A combination of these simulations and hardware emulations allows us to apply real-time predictive control to the microflows by adjusting the inlet streams at the macroscopic level.
