Spectrum analysis: On the application of data windowing to Kay and Marple's results

Data windowing improves the estimates of spectra with large dynamic range. If line component estimates are subtracted from the data prior to spectrum analysis, these estimates must also be obtained from windowed data. This letter includes application to previously published periodogram and high-resolution (Capon) spectrum estimates [1].
