The dual Pythagorean theorem and bad data detection

A new geometric interpretation of minimum variance estimation is presented in terms of the dual of the well-known Pythagorean theorem. The problem of bad data detection among redundant measurements is analyzed and simplified using relationships developed by the dual theorem.
