Fuzzy optical sensor for washing machine

By using an optical sensor, the washing process is matched to the laundry dirtiness. The number of rinses is adjusted to the kind of laundry. The operating principle of an optical sensor and its use in washing and rinsing processes are explained. The optical sensor construction and its building in a drum type washing machine are discussed. A fuzzy controller for washing time inference is presented.
