Multiple point source location via infrared array processing methods

The detection and location of multiple targets in a noisy environment are considered. High-resolution direction-finding techniques have proved to be effective in radar and sonar multiple-target-location applications. In these problem domains, the data being modeled can be represented as a linear combination of fundamental signals whose behavior is parametrically dependent on the location parameters identifying the targets (e.g. azimuth and elevation angles). It is shown that these high-resolution concepts can be adapted to detect point targets using the signals generated from irradiated energy on infrared detectors.<
