The NuTel telescope for observing very high energy tau neutrinos from AGN

The NuTel collaboration is building a wide field-of-view Cerenkov telescope on a mountain to observe air showers generated by tau neutrinos emerging from another mountain. Such a technique will be realized for the first time in the /spl nu//sub /spl tau// energy range of 1 PeV to 1000 PeV. We describe the design of the optical system, electronics and data acquisition system of the telescope in this paper.
