Superconductivity in La/sub 3/Rh/sub 2/Ge/sub 2/ and La/sub 3/Pt/sub 2/Ge/sub 2/

Magnetic and electrical transport measurements are reported for two La-based ternary germanides La/sub 3/Pt/sub 2/Ge/sub 2/ and La/sub 3/Rh/sub 2/Ge/sub 2/. The former was found to be a new superconducting material with a critical temperature T/sub c/ = 2.8 K, and the latter exhibits a type-II superconducting transition at T/sub c/ = 3.6 K in agreement with data reported recently. For both samples, detailed measurements of magnetization in various temperatures and AC susceptibility in various applied magnetic fields were preformed. A number of the relevant parameters were estimated using these data.
