All-optical reshaping of light pulses using /spl chi//sup (2)/ media

A passive and efficient method for reshaping optical pulses is proposed, which uses two successive optical cavities containing nonlinear /spl chi//sup (2)/ crystals. The proposed scheme ables to reshape low power light pulses, performed at 1.06 /spl mu/m and at low bit rates. Potentialities of extension of the technique to real optical telecommunication conditions are also discussed.
