Direct fuel cell (DFC/sup /spl reg//): technology & commercialization

Fuel cells are generally more efficient than their traditional generation counterparts, e.g., gas turbines and reciprocating engines. The DFC/sup /spl reg// series is characterized by an electric generating efficiency of approximately 50%, twice that of traditional technologies in the same size ranges. Combined with the inherent environmental benefits, the increasing need for more generation and the lack of large central plants being developed in congested areas, fuel cells are to quickly become a major player in the distributed generation market.
