A new microstrip electrically controllable scan antenna

The radiation characteristics of new microstrip electrically controllable traveling-wave antenna have been investigated, theoretically and experimentally. The substrate of this antenna consists of ceramic-polymer composite with modified ferroelectric powder Ba/sub 0.65/Sr/sub 0.35/TiO/sub 3/ and appropriate polymer. The feasibility of dielectric scanning (changing the direction of the beam by varying the relative permittivity of the electrically controlled ceramic-polymer composite) has been investigated. It shows that the beam angle can easily change over 30/spl deg/ with varying DC bias field.
