Discussion of "Application of mechanism design to electric power markets" [and closure]

The author comments on the original paper ("Application of mechanism design to electric power markets", C. Silva et al., see ibid., vol. 16, p. 1-8, 2001). He commends the original authors for their pioneer contribution on the application of mechanism design to electricity markets and seeks their clarifications on several points. The original authors' response to these comments is also included.
