An optical technique for dye laser jet stream thickness measurement in real time

A jet stream is used in a dye laser simultaneously as a gain medium and an etalon. The resulting frequency modulation of the laser output is used to measure the jet stream thickness to ±2 percent, and to analyze jet stream thickness fluctuations in real time.
