3G in a co-operative network environment

This paper introduces the concept of co-operative networks. It looks mainly at the co-operation between 3G and broadcast networks and 3G and W-LAN networks as possible early scenarios for what are considered as 'beyond 3G' networks. The commercial drivers for considering such systems are discussed. Some possible scenarios for each type of co-operation are overviewed. The paper concludes with a look at terminal and regulatory issues and also introduces a trial in preparation for a 3G - DAB co-operation.
