Abstract:
G2DMULT is a general algorithm for the calculation of spectral Green's functions of two-dimensional (2D) multiregion structures by using the method of moments (MoM) (see Kildal, P.-S., Proc. 1999 IEEE APS Symp., p.2200-03, 1999). When we have these spectral Green's functions, we can efficiently find the radiation characteristics of three-dimensional (3D) antennas in the vicinity of the 2D structures. The algorithm makes use of the Fourier transformation of the 3D sources in the uniform direction of the structure to arrive into a spectral domain problem that can be solved by a 2D spatial technique. G2DMULT solves for the unknown tangential fields on the boundaries of the material regions. This paper describes an implementation of the formulations for both dielectric materials and perfect conductors in G2DMULT. The code is applied to and verified against existing results for scattering from dielectric loaded so-called hard cylinders and calculation of the radiation pattern of a base station antenna.
