A Novel PWM DC–DC Boost Converter with Reduced Voltage Across Filter Capacitance

A novel pulse width modulation DC-DC boost converter reduced voltage across filter capacitance is presented in this paper. As compared to conventional boost converters, the proposed boost converter has lower cost and higher power density due to a capacitance used in this paper that has lower voltage rating. In addition to that, the proposed converter has a simple structure to implement without increasing the complexity in the design. The proposed converter operates as a conventional PWM DC-DC boost converter. Therewithal, the voltage rating of filter capacitance in the proposed converter is lowered by input voltage rating. The detailed theoretical and mathematical analyses of novel converter are made and a simulation setup with 20 kHz, 100 W is implemented. Finally, the analyses are confirmed with simulation study and results are presented.
