Policy Mixes for the Sustainability Transition of the Battery Industry in China

Remediation of the dynamic nature of real-world policies and the difficulties of addressing today's social challenges, especially the growing pressure to protect ecosystems, the assessment of innovation policies from a policy mixes perspective becomes indispensable. Thus, our paper aims to promote the sustainable transition of China by investigating the development of the policy mixes that support the sustainable transition of China's battery industry and then enrich empirical research on innovation and sustainable transition policies. Studies have shown that the majority of policy instruments in China support to transition enterprises or industries directly. The mapping exercise has pointed out destabilizing policies of important role in accelerating the transition process. Government can apply more diversified strategies (e.g., foresight exercises, voluntary agreements, venture capital, etc.) to promote sustainable transition.
