Compact Planer UWB Antenna for High Speed Communications

UWB antenna with small size and asymmetric coplanar strip (ACS) - fed for a high speed communication application is presented. The radiator patches of the two designed antennas are chosen as elliptical and semi-elliptical structure. The partial and bending coplanar ground plan is designed to achieve the desired UWB features. The designed antennas have bandwidth from 3.2 GHz to more than 11.7 GHz. The proposed antenna has size of 28 × 11.5 mm

. The electromagnetic simulator CST microwave studio is used in the antenna simulation. The proposed antenna is fabricated and measured. The antenna radiation patterns have nearly omnidirectional radiation over the UWB range with suitable gain. The behavior of the proposed antenna makes it suitable for the UWB applications.
