Sub resonance analysis of asymmetric actuators of optical disk drives

The advent of a desktop and notebook of the personal computer necessities the disk drive to he manufactured more smaller and thinner. In order to employ the compact disk(CD] driver or digital video display(DVD) driver for the notebook size personal computer data storage devices, It 1s required to shorten the disk driver's height. Figure l(a) shows a configuration proposed to reduce the height of the conventional disk drive as shown in Fig. l(b). The former is called as an asymmetric actuator while the latter is called as a symmetric actuator for convenience. The distance between the reflective mirror and objective minor is reduced in the asymmetric actuator.
