Indirect negative feedback bipolar LNA

In this paper, an indirect negative feedback (INF) technique is adopted in the design of a low-noise amplifier (LNA) suitable for low-voltage wireless communication applications. It is shown in this paper that INF is suitable to achieve an acceptable performance of LNA's in low-voltage operation. The output stages of the LNA can be placed near the ground rail and directly driving a Gilbert mixer. Simulation in SpectreRF show that this wideband LNA has a NF of 3.7 dB at 1.4 GHz, power gain of 25 dB, OIP3 of 20 dBm, -3 dB bandwidth of 2.3 GHz (low-pass characteristic) and an accurate input impedance with a tolerance less than 12% and is matched to a 200 /spl Omega/ balanced source impedance. The whole circuit is powered by 2.7 V single supply with a total DC current of 24 mA.
