Self-ion irradiation study of a thermally stable nano-crystalline alloy and its implications for development of irradiation resistant alloys

The need for carbon-free energy in this country cannot be exaggerated. Although the share of renewable energy sources in total electricity generation in the US has been increasing, nuclear energy still provides the lion's share (~60%) of carbon-free electricity and will continue to do so in the near future. In this work we have studied the feasibility of using nano-crystalline (nc) alloys in irradiation environments such as nuclear reactors.
