Simulation of thermal radiation from heterogeneous combustion products of peat burning in power plants

The paper is dedicated to the methods and results of the simulation of thermal radiation from heterogeneous combustion products of peat burning in power plants. The source data comprises the chemical composition, optical properties, and dispersivity of ash peat particles. The calculation of the gaseous phase components was made based on the thermal characteristics of the source fuel. The results of the radiation characteristics (the sections and the coefficients of attenuation, scattering and absorption) and emission characteristics (the flux density and the emissivity factor) calculation fitting in the spectral range between 0.4 and 10 μm are given. The dependence of integral emission characteristics on the temperature and the radiating layer thickness is studied. The application of this integrated approach is required for the pyrometric determination of the temperature of combustion products, for the quantitative evaluation of the incomplete peat combustion and therefore for more efficient use of this fuel in power plants.
