Infrastructure of a Holography Studio and its Principal Components

This chapter defines the perfect environment for holography origination studios. To help to decide upon a suitable site for a holography system, one should look at the criteria which influence success. Early installations typically comprised concrete or granite tables suspended upon car tyres containing inflated inner tubes, or upon steel sprung cushion feet; but later on, techniques involved lighter proprietary honeycomb tables with pneumatic piston assemblies, and finally ultrasonic/piezo‐type electronic levelling systems. One critical feature of modern building is the apparent ubiquitous presence of air conditioning and central heating systems, which are anathema to successful holography. The general heading of routinely organising a working optical table for holography involves a number of operations which will rapidly become simple routines with accumulated dexterity and experience. These include operations such as setting up collimating mirrors and lenses in precise alignment, and the regular process of spatial filtration of laser beams.
